You’re Qualified & Perfect for Whatever is On Your Heart To Accomplish
Have you ever felt like you’re under-qualified or that you don’t have what it takes to go after the job you want, chase your dream, or to take the next action you need to take?
Because, the fact that your knees are shaking and you’re terrified must mean you’re not ready and it must not be God’s will for you life.
Here’s the thing… He knows the desires of your heart and when your heart and mind is aligned with Him, He’s wants to give you those desires.(Psalm 37:4)
He created you, everything about you, is as it should be.
Does that mean you don’t have flaws, weaknesses, or imperfections?
Nope. You’re human. Although you are made in God’s image, if you’re human like me, you’re a hot mess of imperfections, corks, ticks, and shortcomings. Even the inspiring, amazing people you look up to… they too are far from perfect. Most of them are humble enough to admit and share that with you. The one’s that aren’t… don’t be fooled – inside they have flaws and weaknesses. In fact, ego and pride, would be what’s shining the brightest if they believe they have it altogether on their own.
Why then would God put expansive and seemingly impossible hopes, dreams, and desires in the heart of those who appear to be massively under-qualified?
But God has selected [for His purpose] the foolish things of the world to shame the wise [revealing their ignorance], and God has selected [for His purpose] the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong [revealing their frailty]. 1 Corinthians 1:27
You’re Not Alone – Never an Army of One
In my experience of being a Christian… people both new to faith or those who are more legalistic and religious in their faith struggle to grasp teaching and sharing fully about the Holy Spirit. They might teach some of what the Scripture says about the Holy Spirit but not all of it. Because it makes them uncomfortable.
But the Holy Spirit is your Helper, your Counselor, and gives you the same power as Jesus had here on the earth.
Incredible right?!? Makes sense that it would make some people nervous…
Acts 10:38 shares how Jesus had the Holy Spirit with Him…
…how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with great power; and He went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, because God was with Him.
But is it true that we have the Holy Spirit with us?
I don’t find my truth in what others tell me I have or don’t have…who I am and what I have is rooted in the Bible.
John 14:16-17 states
And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), to be with you forever— the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive [and take to its heart] because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He (the Holy Spirit) remains with you continually and will be in you.
If you continue to John 14:26-27
But the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will help you remember everything that I have told you. Peace I leave with you; My [perfect] peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid. [Let My perfect peace calm you in every circumstance and give you courage and strength for every challenge.]
If you’re still not to sure you have access to the Holy Spirit as a believer… you can read Romans 8:10-11
If Christ lives in you, though your [natural] body is dead because of sin, your spirit is alive because of righteousness [which He provides]. And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit, who lives in you.
You Have an Internal Guidance System
As believers in Christ Jesus we are empowered to go about doing good and being of service to others…
You know that hope, dream, desire, and vision you have stuffed in the recesses of your heart.
Would it serve others?
Is it good and honorable?
You might be thinking a soft “I guess” or a “yes…but”. I used to do that with my dream and vision. I wanted to work with horses… what good does that really serve?
As I grew up, I wanted to be a horse health expert. That’s what I do now.
I know God put this vision and dream in my heart, because it wakes me up in the middle of the night… I work crazy long hours at times, and yet still find the passion and drive to keep going.
But through my horse health coaching business and as I network and connect with other equine professionals, being who I am at my core and sharing the light that’s within me impacts and changes people’s lives.
Many of my customers and clients share how much of a blessing I’ve been to them, above and beyond the service and products I offer.
Just last year I was ready to quit on my dream and vision. Why?
Not because it wasn’t “successful”, I had made more money and helped more horses that year than I had up to that point… but I was disconnected and miserable.
In my business I had removed the connection and my heart. I did as the world told me I had to business. I’ve spent the last year re-establishing how my business runs and expresses who I am and how I want to serve.
But what about horses…
You might be thinking all this is fine and good, but what does the Holy Spirit have to do with horses and horsemanship?
You do believe God created horses, don’t you?
That He knows, understands, and has a solid comprehension of how to work and be with them…
God gave us dominion over the animals (Genesis 1:28). Yet most people don’t think of simple communication or a knowing of how exist peacefully with them comes from God?
My natural abilities with horses in my mind comes from God, it’s a gift from Him that compliments the dream and vision He put on my heart.
I’ve spent years studying from masters and coaches to refine this gift and “master” it. Yet to be honest until I came back to asking God how to be with each horse, I work with… until I invited the Holy Spirit to lead and guide me in what they need, to show me what I need to see; my fulfillment in my work was lost.
The Holy Spirit is your internal guidance system. He will prompt you to do what you need to do in each moment, if you’re open to it.
If you haven’t sensed, felt, or “heard” this guidance it’s likely that you’ve silenced it for so long you simply need to tune up your listening skills. It’s also possible that the noise and chaos of your mind and life is preventing you from experiencing His presence and guidance.
The best thing to do to both strengthen and troubleshoot your relationship and connection with the Holy Spirit is through prayer and time in the Bible. Worship music is also one of my favorite things for me to work into my day.
Memorizing Bible verses was never a strong suite of mine, but I have many scriptures and Biblical concepts in my mind because of the time I spend meditating not on what it teaches us “to do” or “not do”… more on how it teaches us to live and how it shares the character of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
In closing, my hope is that these words empower you in who you are as a child of God. May they ignite a dream, desire, and vision that you have long since given up on. You’re not too young, not too old, it’s not the wrong niche, or industry. Dust off the cobwebs of your desires and prayfully get to work! God has a plan for your life. Start talking to Him about it…
