The Earth was Formless and Void…
If you’ve ever read the Bible or heard the story of the creation of the earth, then you’ve heard Genesis 1:1-2…
In the beginning God (Elohim) created [by forming from nothing] the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and void or a waste and emptiness, and darkness was upon the face of the deep [primeval ocean that covered the unformed earth]. The Spirit of God was moving (hovering, brooding) over the face of the waters.
I don’t know about you but there have been many times in my life that I felt there was a formless, void, or waste and emptiness. Whether it was clearly from my own doing and the choices I had made or beyond my control and things that happened to me.
What are we supposed to do in these times of our life? If we continue on to Genesis 1:3
And God said,“Let there be light”; and there was light.
God spoke… but you notice He didn’t reference the dark void, emptiness that already existed. He spoke that which He wished to create.
When darkness, emptiness, hurt, frustration, and the heaviness sets in we tend to not only think about, but we then speak about what we are surrounded by and DON’T wish to create more of?!?
Regardless of what is currently happening in your life right now, if you want to create something new and different… you must first speak it out and believe it will come to pass.
God didn’t stop at speaking out and creating, further action was taken. In Genesis 1:4:
God saw that the light was good (pleasing, useful) and He affirmed and sustained it; and God separated the light [distinguishing it] from the darkness.
Once you begin speaking that which you want to create you must affirm and sustain it. By definition affirm can have two interpretations first would be to state as a fact; assert strongly and publicly and secondly would be to offer (someone) emotional support or encouragement.
The verse also states that God sustained His creation. Sustain is defined as strengthen or support physically or mentally.
Finally, we can see that God also distinguished His creation from what already existed. Distinguish means to recognize or treat (someone or something) as different.
The Distinguishing Factor
Can you imagine how different our lives could be if we choose to create and move through life as God did just in the first few verses given to us in the Bible.
What if today you choose to speak about only what you want to create more of?
You take it a step further to affirm to yourself as a fact, take it public to a friend or even on social media. What if you even decided to affirm someone else with an affirmation of blessing and creation?
What if all through your day you physically wrote down what you wish to create, you posted it where you could see it, you mentally visualized it, and confirmed it throughout your day.
Anytime someone has something negative to say or your own mind tries to sneak in doubtful thoughts… you simply recognized and treated your new creation as something different to be cherished.
You can exercise this everyday. What do you want to create in your relationships, mindset, family, home, health, business, career, or even your horsemanship?
Take some time to meditate on these things and implement them into your day. Don’t stress if it takes effort and repetition… you have a human brain prone to negative thinking and faulty programming from the past. The amazing news is that you’re created in God’s image and you can reprogram your brain by continually renewing your mind and giving it new things to think about and create.
Great advice and rooted in truth.
